While Liberian women play a huge role in shaping the social, economic and political landscape of the country, rates of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), harmful practices (HPs), female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage and teenage pregnancy remain high. EWRL strives to break the chains of gender based discrimination for rural Liberian women by promoting economic and educational opportunities.

EWRL was impacted by the COVID-19 crises and travel restrictions. Future activities include technical training in business entrepreneurship and access to microgrants. Women and girls will also receive self-defense instruction and will train men and women as peer counselors who will be give the tools to practice couple and family therapy and conflict resolution.
